My focus and goal as a teacher is to learn equally as much or more as a student is. Learning is a congruent process between teacher and student, where the mutual relationship in wanting to accept and offer knowledge is present. This two way street helps with my growth as a teacher and helps the student understand that no one ever stops learning and accepting new ideas about their passions.
My own personal mantras as a teacher:
. Wrong notes are welcomed with an open heart and mind. Without mistakes, there is no room for growth.
. I encourage you to discover your passions and embrace the ones you already have.
. I greatly acknowledge that people have different learning styles, i.e. visual, auditory, read-write, and kinaesthetic. I strongly work with the student and adapt my teaching methods to help them learn more easily.
. It's wonderful if you don't understand something I am trying to teach you, as it helps me open my mind more towards different teaching concepts and ideas.
. I encourage the use of composition, improvisation and aural to help unlock the hidden creativities and passions that you may not know you have.
I specialise in;
. Classical piano, European piano technique, contemporary and jazz
. AMEB exam preparation, preliminary to AMusA
. Theory (up to Grade 5)
. Audition / performance preparation
. VCE music performance
. Young to old, beginner to advanced students welcome!
